Information Systems is the field of study which employs Information and Communication technology to solve business problems. Computer based information systems are now a critical part of the products, services, operations and management of organizations. Thus, the effective and efficient use of Information and Communication Technology is a critical element in achieving competitive advantage for business organizations and excellence in service. As a field of academic study, Information Systems Design & Analysis encompasses the concepts principles and process of (1) acquisition, deployment and management of information systems, and (2) the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the design, development, operation and maintenance of software. The curriculum of this module follows an object oriented approach introducing students to the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
