The department is in constant interaction with the local community in Syros and the Cyclades. The department co-organizes events and participates and collaborates with a number of (local) bodies related to the Cyclades and the Aegean, such as:

• Prefecture of South Aegean
• Municipality of Syros - Hermoupolis
• Industrial museum of Hermoupolis
• Syros Institute
• Tinos Marble Arts Museum and other museums in the Aegean
• Museum of Cycladic Art (Athens)
• AnimaSyros festival 
• Syros International Flim Festival (SIFF)
• TEDxAegean organized by students of the department

Collaboration with the above (and other) bodies takes place in a variety of contexts, such as: coursework, internships, diplomas and research and development projects.
