Eugene Scourboutis holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and an MA in Industrial Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art. He has worked as a consultant for the industry, as a member of multidisciplinary R&D teams, or as a researcher developing his own products in London since 1999 and in Athens since 2006.

His activity covers a wide range of the product design and development process, from research and concept generation to design development, product engineering and production systems design. He has designed physical and phygital industrial products, lights, home and office furniture, renewable energy systems, office interiors, architectural systems and vehicles. He has won several awards or distinctions in international design competitions and holds patents and registered designs in the fields of lighting, responsive architecture and solar systems. Products he designed have been exhibited in London, Athens, Essen, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris and Dubai and presented in Greek and UK national press.

Since 2007 he is an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Products and Systems Design Engineering of the University of the Aegean teaching in Product Design Studios and Design Methodology courses in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Summer Academy programs, supervising diploma dissertations and curating design competitions and cooperative projects between industry and the university.

His research interests include product design, engineering design, design methodology, manufacturing technology, lighting design, workplace design, renewable energy, deployable structures and electric vehicles. Since 2018 he is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Products and Systems Design Engineering in the field of product design, researching the development of a modular ultra-light electric motorcycle for urban commuting and recreation.

In 2022 his design of the Prisma Solar Collector for solar system manufacturer Calpak, were he leads the design department, received the Red Dot Award.
