George Vithoulkas - Professor of Homeopathic Medicine
He was born in Athens in 25.7.1932.
George Vithoulkas is today a Honorary Professor of the Moscow Medical Academy
(Academy of Medical Sciences),
Professor in the
Kiev Medical Academy
and Collaborating Professor in
Basque Medical University (2000-2003).
In 1996, he was honored with the Right Livelihood Award (also known as Alternative Nobel Prize,
www.rightlivelihood.org)
"...for his outstanding contribution to the revival of homeopathic knowledge and the training of homeopaths to the highest
standards". United Nations (Development Forum) consider this award "Among the
world's most prestigious awards", while TIME Magazine called Jacob Uexkull, the
award's inspirator, as one of the 37 "heroes" of 2005
[1].
In 2000, George Vithoulkas was honored with the Gold Medal of the Hungarian Republic, from the country's President, for his work in the
homeopathic medicine.
In 1995, he established
International Academy of Classical Homeopathy
in Alonissos, in which he is the director. In this Academy, George Vithoulkas gives the gist of
40 years of his experience and his recent ideas of levels of health. In his
teachings, he gives details that will help the doctor or practitioner to
determine the state of health of each individual patient and also the
possibility to be estimated whether a case is curable with homeopathy and the
amount of time and remedies that will be needed to accomplish a cure.
Every year, during the summer months, groups of doctors and
practitioners from various countries are being trained there, doctors and
practitioners from Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, Russia,
U.S.A., Canada, Austria, Japan, India, Mexico, Brazil and of course Greek
doctors.
The University of the Aegean (www.syros.aegean.gr)
has started since three years, in co-operation with International Academy of
Classical Homeopathy, a programme for continuous education for doctors in
homeopathy.
But the peak of homeopathy's educational recognition in
Greece is the publication in the FEK (Government's Gazette) (1912/issue b', 29.12.2006)
regarding the authorization for a Programme of Master Degree
Studies in the
University of the Aegean
for medical doctors with the title
"Holistic Alternative Therapeutic Systems-Classical Homeopathy" (duration: 2 years).
In this Programme of Master Degree Studies will participate the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy and
Professor George Vithoulkas.
He is peer reviewer in "Medical Science Monitor" (www.medscimonit.com).
He participates, as supervisor professor, at elaboration of doctoral thesis.
He is the author of the following books:

In 1980, George Vithoulkas was called from the World Health Organization
to write the article about Homeopathy for the book Traditional Medicine that WHO
published, as well as the main article in the round table for the scientific
magazine of WHO, World Health Forum.
In 1998, George Vithoulkas was called by Council of Europe to
inform about the homeopathic medicine. In the text that was
